Pajama Pants

Here's a really easy and very fast way to make some pajama pants!!!

1. Find some pajama pants that fit the person who these are being made for and fold them like the ones in the picture. The fabric on the left is folded (with the fold on the left side). So place your pants on the fabric with the straight side over the fold and cut out the fabric in that shape. Cut the top part of the pants straight (where it would be if the elastic weren't pulling the waistline in).

2. Your fabric should look like this, with the fold on the left. Now do this one more time so you end up with 2 peices of fabric like this. Remember which part is the TOP of the pants (you will notice the sides of the top part of the pajamas are straighter, and shorter)

3. Now you should have 2 peices that look like this when opened

4. Overlap the 2 pieces with the right sides together. Now we're going to just sew the left and right sides on the very top....only to the point!

(only sew from the top down the curve and to the point on both sides)

5. Now readjust the way your pants are positioned so that the seems you've just sewen (the front and back of the pants) look like this. You're seem from the front should be lined up with the seem from the back.

6. Now sew the insides of the legs together.

7. hem the bottom of both legs.

8. Do the same at the waist, making sure to create a hem slightly wider than your elastic, but leave a 1-2 inch section unhemed so you can put in the elastic. Put a safety pin at one end of a peice of elastic and thread through the waist band. ***measure length of elastic by wraping around the waist of the person for whom the pants will fit, stretching it only slightly.

9. Once threaded through the pants, overlap the ends of the elastic about an inch and sew them together. Make sure your elastic is laying flat all the way around the waist (with no twists anywhere) before you sew it together)

10. Tuck your elastic into the waitband and sew closed the open section in your hem. and TA DA!!!! YOU'RE DONE!

  1. So cute, and you make it look so easy. I'm just not that talented, I wish I were though. :)
